Department for Transport Seafarer Projections Report Employer Survey 2025

You are invited to take part in an important employer survey to inform the 2025 Seafarer Projections Report. The survey is being conducted by Cebr and YouGov on behalf of the Department for Transport. This work contributes to evidence base for the UK’s need for seafarers and informs future policy around seafarer training.

Questions focus on current and future demand for UK seafarers, employing workforce composition, recruitment, career progression pathways, risks and opportunities.

The survey can be accessed using the link below:

Responses will be held securely and confidentially by YouGov and analysed in aggregated format with no identification of individuals or organisations possible. That aggregated and anonymised data will be shared with Cebr and the Department for Transport.

Please ensure the survey is completed by the colleague in your organisation most familiar with crewing, HR, training, or workforce planning. If you are not the right person, do please forward the link to the appropriate colleague. The deadline for responses is Wednesday 29 October 2025.

This is your opportunity to share your experiences and insights. Your collective contribution will be invaluable to strengthen the report’s findings and conclusions, and enable Government and maritime stakeholders to fully understand the UK’s seafaring needs. The report will be published on GOV.UK in 2026.

If you have any questions about this request, experience any technical issues while completing the survey please contact seafarers@yougov.com or if you believe that someone else in your organisation is better placed to respond to this survey, please contact Cebr directly at seafarers@cebr.com.
